How much are classes?
Fees for Minis are £65 per term. Fees for all Kids classes are £75 per term apart from B3. Fees are payable termly in advance.
Do you do trial sessions?
Unfortunately we do not, however we do have a 2 week money back guarantee. We ask you to pay the full term fees and if your child decides not to carry on, we will give you the rest of your money back.
Is experience necessary to join?
No. Classes are arranged so that everyone is at a similar level and each session moves to a pace suitable for each class.
What should my child wear?
Suitable clothing is advised, in order to move and stretch freely. Joggers, leggings, shorts with t-shirts or vests are all suitable. At the first day of term, we will be giving all the students a Streetfunk t-shirt which is included in the term fees.
What is suitable footwear?
To support ankles and to get the best experience from the class, we would highly recommend trainers. Please no shoes, boots, sandals, crocs or sandals.
What will my child learn in class?
Each lesson starts with a warm up which includes stretches and body conditioning exercises.
Over the year, they will be taught the history and foundation steps of Lockin’, Poppin’, and Breakin’ as well as Streetdance routines. The various routines they learn will be put together and performed in the Summer Term and at our end of year show – Straight Up.
What is Lockin’?
Lockin’ is a Funkstyle which was created by Don Campbell in the late 60s / early 70s. This dance art from takes its name from “The Lock” and it includes social dance party steps, quick locking and pointing movements along with hand slaps, splits and loads more. Click here to see more.
What is Poppin’?
Poppin’ is a Funkstyle which was created by Boogaloo Sam in Fresno, California in the 70s. It is a style that involves flexing your muscles continuously to the beat to give a jerky/snapping effect. Click here to see more.
What is Breakin’ / Bboyin’ / Bgirlin’ / Breakdance?
Breakin’ is a style of street dance that was created and developed as part of Hip Hop culture among Afro Americans and Latino youths in New York City in the late 70s. A practitioner of this dance is called a b-boy or b-girl. Click here to see more.
Can I sit and watch the class whilst my child is learning?
We believe that students need to be able to focus without the distraction of family members in the teaching space. However we are happy for parents to come in and watch for the last 10 mins or so. We have an Open Day on the last day of term so you are invited to come and watch then.
Do you do private lessons?
Yes, however these can be very expensive. Price would include hire of teacher and venue.
