JP OMARI

DIRECTOR/FOUNDER

JP Omari is a multi-award winning Hip Hop dancer, teacher, coach and choreographer who has worked hard and extensively to become the leading Hip Hop dance figure in Brighton & Hove. He has performed, taught and judged competitions around the world and is widely respected in the UK dance scene. JP became the UK’s first bboy (breakdancer) to take part in a reality TV dance show when he took part in the BBC’s Strictly Dance Fever in 2006 reaching the semi-finals with his dance partner, Stacey Gaunt. Since then, he has worked with chart topping artists such as Dizzee Rascal, Sean Paul and Orbital.

LEA VERNON

DANCE TEACHER

Hey, I’m Lea, I am the newest member of the Streetfunk team which I am very excited about. I have been dancing for about 20 years, and I’m currently in two of the Streetfunk dance crews including mums da word and Novalux. I particularly love taking my choreography and love of dance back in time, with some old school vibes. I am always striving to pursue every chance I get to improve myself as a dancer and as a mentor. In the future, I hope to make you be the best you can be and share with you my love for dance. 

DIONNE BOWEN

OPERATIONS MANAGER

I have worked for Sussex Partnership Trust within different teams and roles for the last 19 years. Coming from such a large corporation and having helped set up systems for a new service, I am able to cast an analytical eye and implement changes and structure within the company, helping lead it into a new era, enabling growth. I work closely with the team behind the scenes to help innovate and create a quality service. I provide reflective supervision and training to equip staff with the tools to provide you with a 10x experience. Prior to my time with the NHS, I worked in a senior role with children from difficult backgrounds who were taken into care. I am also JP’s partner and mother to our beautiful children.

MONIQUE MATTHEWS

DANCE TEACHER

Hi everyone, my name is Monique and I have been a teacher for Streetfunk for 7 years now. I started dancing at the age of 3 doing tap, modern and ballet and continued these styles alongside contemporary throughout school until I found Streetfunk at the age of 13. I instantly fell in love with the different styles and the company itself, and as I got older I knew teaching was what I wanted to do. I absolutely love my job and watching my students progress and grow in confidence is truly rewarding. I also compete internationally with my own crew and have won several titles. I continue to train in a range of dance styles to ensure I am the most well-rounded teacher I can be.

ESME DREW

DANCE CO-TEACHER

Hi, I’m Esme Drew. I am 15 years old and a co-teacher at Streetfunk. I have been dancing since I was 3 years old. I started in Ballet and since have covered Streetdance, Contemporary, Jazz, Tap and Commercial.

I have been dancing at Streetfunk since I was 9.

I have also trained in musical theatre and since have been in a number of shows. I hope to pursue a career in dance, I always enjoy learning as well as sharing my current knowledge and understanding to the students.

SAM PEIRCE

DANCE CO-TEACHER

Hi, I’m Sam Peirce, and I’m 15 years old. I’ve been dancing at Streetfunk for 5 years and co-teaching for nearly 2. I have been in many shows and performances, as well as having represented Streetfunk at competitions in crews, and in solos. I love being a co-teacher at Streetfunk because the students are so fun and eager to learn, and we always have a great time! In addition, I’m always trying to better myself, and with teaching, I always learn something useful from the students.

INDIA PHILLIPS

ADMINISTRATION & CUSTOMER RELATIONS MANAGER

I have been part of the Streetfunk team for 3 years. I love my job as I get to combine my passion for dance & performance with a customer-facing role and ensuring the smooth running of Streetfunk’s day to day tasks. I am a qualified dance teacher with first aid and DBS qualifications which has enabled me to work across the country at prestigious dance schools. I have a degree in Musical Theatre and have been lucky enough to perform in many musicals, most recently a 20’s themed tap show in Dublin!

WILL TIMPSON

DANCE TEACHER

My name is Will and I’ve been dancing for the past 10 years as a student, a performer, and a teacher at Streetfunk dance school. The reason that I love to dance is that it allows me to show my creativity through movement and provides me the skills I need to become an individual. I have been teaching for the last 4 years starting from the bottom to the top with my fellow teachers and it’s a great experience and a great lifestyle which I have chosen for myself. I have started using the skills I’ve developed over the years to become a performer for different shows of all styles from Streetdance to Contemporary to Ballet. I recently became a member of a London based dance crew called 'Birdgang' to take different elements and aspects from the world of dance so that I can be the best dancer I can be.

AMY WELLS

DANCE TEACHER

Dance is one of my greatest passions in life. I have been dancing pretty much since I could walk starting off in a class called boogie babies. I have danced and competed in all kinds of styles from tap, ballet and contemporary through to street dance and commercial, and many others. I have always had an interest in teaching from a young age, as I love sharing my knowledge and it gives me great joy helping others accomplish new things.

I have recently finished studying dance, sport science and personal training at Varndean college and can’t wait to see what great things are to come in the future!

RHIANNON ROLF

MARKETING & SOCIAL MEDIA OFFICER/DANCE TEACHER

Hey, I’m Rhiannon. I am a professional dancer who has learned and studied a variety of dance styles from the age of 2 including Contemporary, Streetdance, and Tap. My true passion is Afro dance and all variants of Streetdance, I find in this style I am able to express myself whilst bringing the energy and a sense of fun. I love for my students to enjoy this style and feel free to have fun with it, act a little wild, and support each other whether you’re a professional dancer or a complete beginner. My class will support you through your dance journey and teach you some classic Afro dance moves along the way.

AMANDA WILSON

DANCE TEACHER

I've been dancing for 20 years, started when I was 6 & I'm trained in a wide range of classical styles as well as all major Street styles. I studied a dance degree at the University of East London. This taught me many things including dance history, dance on screen, managing businesses, how to run events, & had extensive training in StreetDance. I learned from some of the UK's pioneering practitioners & I now work freelance around the UK for various companies such as Pineapple Community, The movement factory, HHI, Marina Studios & now with my new dance family, Streetfunk! One day I hope to start my own company that incorporates the skill sets I gained at Uni while continuing to teach & compete with the SF Family.

DANCE TEACHER

I started performing from a very young age of about 3, training in Tap, Modern, Jazz & also Gymnastics. I then took an interest in acting and joined a local theatre school. It wasn’t until I was about 13 that I found my forte in Hip Hop & StreetDance. I competed in UDO competitions and also represented England in Pisa at world dance championships. After leaving school I studied Dance & performing arts, alongside teaching students aged 4-16. Teaching classes wasn't enough so I then created an all girl dance crew D-code who also then competed in UDO. In march 2019 I then relocated from Southampton to Brighton & can't wait to get back in the studio.

TASH TULLY

DANCE CO-TEACHER

Hi! I'm Tash and I've been a part of Streetfunk for over 10 years! I still remember my first class with JP and hope to make the same positive impact with the children I teach as J did for me growing up. I absolutely love working with every one of the children. It's such a great feeling watching them learn and grow both through dance and as human beings. I am currently part of Novalux, Streetfunk's over 18 competition crew, which helps me to develop my own skills in many styles to pass on in class.

Hey, I'm Vanessa. I have worked in care and nursing over the last 20 years. This job is customer focused which is why I love my role at Streetfunk. I’m a mother and grandmother to my beautiful family who love to get active in the outdoors with me! I have a passion for watching dance from an audience perspective as I love the energy that dancers portray.

My names Hanna AKA Trillzy, I’ve been dancing professionally for 4 years now competing around the world with IMD Legion and dancing for Boyblue Ent. My love for dance comes from understanding the culture and history of Hiphop and I just want to spread the knowledge to those that want to learn.

Hi everyone, I'm Josh! I started dancing from the age 6 and have trained with the company Boy Blue Entertainment for the majority of my training as well as attending The BRIT School and then going on to further education at D&B Academy (3 year vocational college). This has allowed me to have the knowledge and a high understanding of over 10 styles, which I have been able to fuse together to bring my unique movement. I can proudly say that my choreography is never the same, based on what the lesson plan is I always strive to bring my students a range of styles as that’s what makes them as versatile as possible.

I’m Nina Swann, I have been dancing with Streetfunk since  I was 6 years old. I have experience in many styles of dance such as, Tap, Contemporary, Commercial and of course Streetdance. Streetfunk has given me many opportunities over the years, including representing them at competitions for teams and solos. Being a

co-teacher at Streetfunk has abled me to share my love of dance help others gain that same love. Watching the students grow and improve is one of the many highlights. In the future I hope to make a career out of dance and travel the world expressing my passion.

Hey, I’m Lexie. I am a Streetfunk Co-Teacher and have been apart of the Streetfunk family for over 6+ years. I immerse myself into the dance community by participating in our Origen (Senior Crew) Training. My main passion is competing in dance competitions around the world, I joined my first crew when I was 7 years old which was the Streetfunk ‘Killabeez’ and I have continued my journey by becoming a British dance champion. I hope to help insert a huge passion for dance into your children lives and allow them to progress through my ability to teach technique and natural drive to help others.

Hi I’m Libby, I have been dancing since age 3, in a variety of styles such as Ballet, Modern, Commercial, Streetdance and Jazz. I am a co-teacher for Streetfunk and I love   helping kids gain a passion for dance and movement.

I have taken part in many dance shows and performances as well as musical theatre productions. I’m hoping that whilst teaching I will learn lots of new things from both students and other teachers and then I can use these skills as well as the ones I already have to help students to the best of my ability.

Hi, I’m Georgia and I’m a

co-teacher at Streetfunk. Dance has always been a big passion of mine and I enjoy different styles from Streetdance, Commercial,  Ballroom and Latin. I’ve been dancing since the age of 7 and compete in competitions. I love working with the children and find it rewarding to see them enjoy the classes and improve.

Hi I’m Lucy I’ve been dancing at Streetfunk for 5 years and have just started co-teaching. I’ve done many competitions and performances with Streetfunk crews and love being apart of the family. By co-teaching I hope to pass on this passion of performing and having fun with Streetdance.

DANIELLE CROSS

DANCE CO-TEACHER

I started dance from an early age training with Carol Kristian school of dance, completing ISTD exams across ballet, jazz and contemporary and tap. I then continued training at Harrison College of Performing arts where I  gained the teaching and performance, after having a thirst for commercial spotlight I danced for Starlights who were contracted with Sky Sports performing for London Leopards, West Ham and Saracens. Hungry for more street I was casted for Culture Shock London troupe which lead me to perform all over London and from that troupe I took one more step up to be a part of the original cast of Dance 2XS London. I have taught all ages and abilities such as mencap UK, from 4 to 84 and I love seeing my students blossom from an interest to a talented passion.

Creative dance artist based in east Sussex with a fun and energetic personality. I have been dancing from a young age, I started out with breakdance/Bboy foundations and over the years I've explored a variety of Urban, international an modern styles. For myself, I've known since the beginning of my journey that dance was going to be my career, life and future. I graduated from university of east London in 2018 with a bachelor's honours degree in Urban dance practice, there I had the opportunity to exsplore the umbrella of street/urban dance and learn techniques, styles and history behind each dance form. Since graduation I've worked with multiple Componys and schools to prepare, produce an provide dance lessons to kids and adults with the main aim to exspand knowledge, whilst building technique and character for all ages an levels of dance, being able to share the floor, passion and movement is ultimately my key to happiness in life.

Dance is power, dance is knowledge and dance is the future.

Hello everyone, my name is Nicole & I have dedicated the majority of my career to dance & fitness. I started dancing at a very young age in tap, modern and jazz, soon progressing to streetdance and commercial. I have taken leading parts in Christmas pantomimes and when living abroad I created my own dance academy for kids and teens. One of my dancing highlights was performing at Disneyland Paris in 2014! I love all styles of street dance & love getting sassy on the dance floor. I hope all my experience gives me the knowledge to be the best teacher I can be.

I have been dancing since I was 4, beginning with classical dance whilst moving into hip hop, modern Jazz, and latin styles. In my dance career I participated in the FIDS Italian hip hop dance championship and I was part of the show group for latin american dance also being an instructor in this field for two years. I love to perform and I am very excited to spread this passion amongst others. In dance there is always space for creativity, co-corporation and fun.

My biggest fulfillment in life is helping my students see their own potential and reach their goals in a fun and energetic environment. My motto is dream, believe, achieve! Alongside my dance career I work as a self employed multi skilled circus performer and entertainment agent. I've been lucky enough to take my skills internationally working in over 7 countries for elite events and artists including; E4, Warner Bro's, Sigala, Jax Jones & Craig David.''
